Catalonia continues to consolidate its position as a key destination for foreign investment, particularly in the logistics and real estate logistics sectors, thanks to its strategic geographic location, multimodal connectivity, and a strong offering of infrastructure and services that facilitate the operations of international companies.
According to official data from ACCIÓ – Catalonia Trade & Investment, 106 foreign investment projects were implemented in Catalonia in 2024, with a total of €1.051 billion secured and the equivalent of more than 8,200 jobs created and/or maintained overall. This figure represents a historic record in investment captured by ACCIÓ and a significant increase compared to the previous year, despite a global context of slowdown in international investment flows.
Logistics as a driver of international investment
Within this framework, logistics, distribution and real estate logistics are emerging as some of the most dynamic areas for investment, both for specialized logistics operators and for multinational corporations strengthening their presence in the region. Catalonia has attracted, among other initiatives, investments from international companies and funds across different parts of the territory, including:
-
Development of logistics parks by international developers in areas such as the AP-7 corridor and the Barcelona metropolitan area, with projects led by companies specialized in logistics assets.
-
Establishment of logistics centers by international multinationals in the field of consumer goods distribution and corporate operations, with logistics activities located in strategic areas of Camp de Tarragona and the Barcelona metropolitan area.
-
Expansion investments by foreign companies in logistics and operational infrastructure, reinforcing supply chain connectivity.
2026–2030 objectives and outlook
To consolidate this trajectory, the Government of Catalonia has recently presented a new foreign investment attraction strategy for the 2026–2030 period, aiming to secure €6 billion in investment, attract 600 international projects, and generate up to 45,000 associated jobs, with special emphasis on strategic sectors such as logistics, industry and technology.
Overall, this investment momentum strengthens Catalonia’s position as a benchmark logistics hub in the Mediterranean and Western Europe, contributing to the enhancement of the business value chain, job creation, and the attraction of international talent and capital.
